WorkPlace's first customer was the maker of the famous "Jammie Dodgers" Burtons Biscuits at Blackpool, other customers soon followed including; Ethicon, David A Halls / Grampian, Davis of Derby, Pirelli Cables and Marconi Avionics. The late 1980s were characterised by steady growth and the development of an Oracle based product set with important partnerships and distribution agreements with Benzing and GEC Plessey respectively.

The 1990s saw significant sales and acquisitions which elevated WorkPlace Systems to a leading supplier of Workforce Management solutions. Sales success included; London Underground, BT, 17 Defence and Aerospace clients and in the Middle East; Kuwait Airways, Kuwait Air Services, Bahrain Oil Company and Qatar Fertiliser. WorkPlace Systems acquired Care Interactive Software, Insight Logistics, Solus/OBS and Ian Lenagan co-founded TeleWare.

In 2000 TeleWork (TeleWare & WorkPlace) was successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange with the floatation being nine times oversubscribed.
