health.
In addition to the supply of standard software, modifications and customizations are undertaken for major customers particularly where this adds enhanced features or reports to the standard products.
WorkPlace products are at the forefront of technology with more than 40 per cent of staff permanently involved in research and development. Products are web-enabled with core database technology based upon Oracle, SQL Server and DB2.
WorkPlace Systems has a particular expertise in practical labor management methods including annualized hours, flexible working schemes, forecasting and optimized scheduling. These innovative labor management methods are being adopted increasingly internationally, facilitated by WorkPlace software products and expertise.
One of the major advantages to customers of the implementation of WorkPlace software is significant direct cost savings. These arise from improvements in staff schedules, control of overtime and absence and improved labor utilization. Customers report direct cost savings ranging, typically, from 3 to 8 per cent of payroll costs. In some cases savings can be as high as 20 per cent depending on the WorkPlace modules implemented.
In relation to the application software, WorkPlace Systems supplies extensive project management, consultancy services and training services together with software fault fixing, software upgrades and help desk services. WorkPlace Systems is equipped to provide the levels of service and responsiveness required by major corporates for labor management systems in the UK and internationally.
Typical customer installations range from 500 to 120,000 staff in centralized locations or multiple-site operations such as supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars and banks. Large installations include up to 1,500 separate locations. Typically, where multiple sites are involved, pilot implementations in one location are followed by a volume roll-out. Large roll-out implementations may take 12 to 18 months with significant amounts of specialized consultancy provided.
Internationally, WorkPlace Systems has a range of major customer installations in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Bahrain, Kuwait, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark and Ireland.
