Milton Keynes, 7th January 2008 - Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service have chosen WorkPlace Systems, a leader in workforce management systems, to support the development and introduction of a 5 Watch pilot system and to provide a Duty Management System to ensure resources deliver service objectives in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have been exploring a number of different options to become more efficient, this included a review of their Wholetime Operational Duty System. After a rigorous consultation period which included speaking to a number of Fire and Rescue Services, Strathclyde decided to work with WorkPlace Systems to deliver a pilot 5 Watch roster system in two areas.

In addition, WorkPlace Systems have also been chosen to provide a Duty Management System which will match resource availability to known workloads through demand/availability processes. Commenting on their choice Brian Sweeney, Chief Fire Officer stated; "WorkPlace Systems was the best choice for us on two counts, firstly it has demonstrated continued success with other Fire and Rescue Services in reviewing their duty systems, and secondly the software was an ideal fit to our needs".

WorkPlace Systems is working with 21 UK Fire Services and Regional Fire Control Centres, advising them on how to approach demand-led rostering to provide improvements in utilisation and efficiency.
